Refine searches by selecting another type of search in the Keyword drop down box. Searches can be made for a Title, Author, or LC Subject (Library of Congress subject heading). By using the Standard Number (#) search, a book can be located by its ISBN, or a print journal title owned by MBTS can be found by its ISSN.
Searching by Journal & Newspaper will provide information about the print journals of MBTS Library, including the range of years and volumes that MBTS Library owns. It does not contain information about the subjects found in individual journal articles. To search for journal articles in multiple databases in addition to books, e-books and other items in the MBTS Library, use the EBSCO Discovery Service. To search for journal articles in a specific periodical database, such as EBSCOhost, JSTOR, or Southern Baptist Periodical Index, select the link for the desired database on the Databases page. A Canvas login and password (the same one used for MBTS class information) is required to access these databases.
Searches can also be refined by selecting either the Modify Search button located above the search box on the results page, or selecting Advanced Keyword in the (More Searches) search box on the upper right section on the right of the webpage and then selecting the arrow button next to it. On the Advanced Keyword Search page, it is possible to use multiple search terms, such as searching for words in the title and an author at the same time. Searches can also be limited there, such as by Library collection, format (ebook, video, etc.), language, and date. There is also a section on Search Tips that can be helpful.
